MIT (Manukau Institute of Technology) is NZ's largest provider of technical and vocational education in NZ.
Gaze relocated the Nursing Faculty from the Otara campus to Manukau campus and created a modern and future-proof learning environment. The brief was to optimize the space and house all the necessary capabilities required to provide students with a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience.
As well as designing conventional laboratories, Gaze designed simulation training facilities fitted with the latest technologies and equipment that resemble a live medical environment. Clinical learning suites were either set up as permanent hospital wards, complete with beds, equipment plugins, gases and curtains, or as simple environments that can be changed to simulate different locations. Features include individual hospital rooms, safety showers, assessment and interview rooms for one-on-one counselling. Gaze designed all joinery to meet faculty standards, determined by cleaning, safety, security, and storage requirements.
