Gaze was contracted to carry out the earthquake repairs, which also included strengthening the 1st and 2nd floors.
Specialist lifting technology, in addition to a reinforced concrete block on the ground level, was used to lift the 1st and 2nd floors, while additional steel beams were introduced for strengthening. A ground injection system was used to relevel the ground floor and large reinforced slabs were left in place to provide additional stability.
Although heavy plant and machinery were used throughout the project, tenants on levels 1 and 2 were still able to occupy the premises throughout the works and incurred very minimal disruption. All mechanical and electrical systems also had to be removed to enable the works and were reinstated upon completion.
