A creative interior for creatives: a former bar in a 1930s building is transformed into Gaze’s own Auckland office and design studio that’s a little bit retro and a lot of fun.
Gaze required a welcoming office interior for clients who range from barristers to advertising executives, and from developers to real estate agents. The office reflects the company’s values and culture of work hard, play hard, while also being low maintenance and economical.
Gaze achieved this by gutting the entire interior of the former bar, and polished and sealed the raw concrete in order to preserve the history of the space, with even old paint marks left in place. The memorable spine of the office, a dark-stained rough-sawn timber spine, separates the work area from the public spaces, and transforms along its length from a reception counter, to a client lounge, to a bar leaner. Bold graphics, artwork, Daytona racing machines and the famous train cabin area gives the Gaze office an almost theatrical presence, giving its visitors an unforgettable experience from their first step inside.
