The Department of Conservation (DOC) required an open plan office space where everyone could communicate more easily. The office space covered approximately 900 square metres to house around 45 staff members
The DOC offices needed to be modernised so Gaze worked with them to create a more open plan working space. They required an environment where all staff had the same kinds of desks to allow communication to flow more freely.
The focus of the office was changed from an ‘all desks’ feel to key areas such as front of house, reception, café and casual meeting areas being the focal point. Gaze and DOC also worked through challenging their thinking on filing systems as about half of their storage areas were taking up with paperwork.
